smbfs is known to have problems with Xen.  As Vincent mentioned, smbfs is
deprecated in favor of CIFS.  smbfs has no real maintainer anymore.  cifsfs is
known to work under Xen and is part of the regression suites.

Unless you have a strong objection, I'm going to close this bug in the near 
future.
