http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=461 Summary: Kernel not booting with > 4GB RAM Product: Xen Version: 3.0-testing Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: Hardware Support AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ReportedBy: ricardoz@xxxxxxxxxx CC: hohnbaum@xxxxxxxxxx,pl@xxxxxxxxxx changeset: 8395:1283d309a603 tag: tip user: kaf24@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx date: Sun Dec 18 13:29:43 2005 +0100 summary: Avoid div-by-zero crash if vmx guest specifies bogus timer Distribution: FC4 HW: VT-enabled, SMP, 1 HD, 2Gbit adaptors, 8GB RAM ARCH: x86_64 Kernel config: default Grub entry: title Xen 3.0 unstable / XenLinux 2.6 root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/xen-3.0.gz dom0_mem=1048576 com1=115200,8n1 noapic acpi=off module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6-xen0 root=/dev/sda1 console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0 acpi=off module /boot/initrd-2.6.12.6-xen0.img Problem Details: When trying to boot with the 8GB of Ram that is installed in the VT-enabled system, Xen hangs during the boot process and the serial console does not specify anything that points to the memory. I took 4GB of memory as a suggestion from Ralph Blach. After taking that memory out, Xen booted without a problem. I'll include the serial console output after I install the memory again. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. _______________________________________________ Xen-bugs mailing list Xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-bugs
