Nope, it's not bound by MAC contents of /etc/network/interfaces is as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback # The primary network interface auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 10.43.234.101 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.43.234.1 That's it. > You will need to turn that off.
