My patch does not help set_gdt on CPU0 (but solves a hang after that); I don't 
see such a problem on my 16-way machines (but it has 6GB). Can you please do a 
couple of things to get more data?
1. use xen.gz created by "make debug=y"? That could capture problems earlier. 
2. use CONFIG_NR_CPUS=8 (and always set "apic=bigsmp")
3. use like mem=8g to see if you see differences.
