http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=89 ------- Additional Comments From adam.carheden@xxxxxxxxx 2005-08-07 18:43 ------- Created an attachment (id=39) --> (http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=39&action=view) syslog output of sata_nv module on xen Dom0 2.6.11.12 kernel I have the same problem. Dom0 kernel hangs on boot or modprobe after: ata3: dev 0 ATA, max UDMA/133, 488397168 sectiors: lba48 I have to do a cold reboot to get my machine back. - I'm using a custom linux-2.6.11-xen0 kernel. (x86 not x86_64) - Everything (including SATA) works fine from a non-xen kernel. - Everything also works if I comment the CONFIG_SCSI_SATA_NV=y line in my .config file on the dom0 kernel. - I'm compiling for Athlon/Duron/K7 (though my processor is an athlon64 3000+) - Gentoo linux, though the problems occurs before FS access, so it's probably not important If I compile sata_nv as a module, the system hangs when I attempt modprobe sata_nv. I can switch to different virtual terminals, but there are huge delays after every keystroke loggin on. I type 'root', but I get "Login time out after 60 seconds" before the password: prompt appears.) Top in a 2nd terminal (already logged in) says that it (top) is using 80-90% of the CPU. Modprobe isn't on the list. 53% user, 12% sy, 10% id, 26.5% hi, 0% for everything else. Ping from another box works. I got 77ms, 37ms, 41ms, and 1 lost packet on one trial. (Wow! Linux is a trooper. I doubt the scheduler on a windows box would let it respond to pings! Of course, driver tend to work better on Windows in the first place...) Attached is the appropriate logs from /var/log/messages after a reboot. Looks like I let modprobe run for about 10 minutes before going for the power switch. The stuff at the end is my attempts to log on to another tty. The final entry is syslog starting after reboot. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. _______________________________________________ Xen-bugs mailing list Xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-bugs
