Awesome! I've just cut an installext.1.0.1 with some fixes for Debian and CentOS detection (thanks to Dave Scott for the latter). https://github.com/ocaml/opam-repository/pull/3309 I think we should maintain both a shell script and an OCaml-based distro detection, since they are both of use in different contexts (installation vs programmatic use in OPAM). How about turning the distro detection logic into a separate library called os-identify, and then opam-installext can just become a thin shell on top of that? For now though, if you have no objection I'll move avsm/opam-installext under the ocaml/ org since it's used by a lot of the bulk build scripts already.
