  • Thread-topic: [XCP] CPU Masking AMD Opteron

I have a current pool of 3 hosts running XCP 1.1.

They are using this cpu:

cpu_count : 8
                   vendor: AuthenticAMD
                    speed: 2200.028
                modelname: AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 4122
                   family: 16
                    model: 8
                 stepping: 0
flags: fpu de tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic mtrr mca cmov pat
clflush
mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt 3dnowext 3dnow constant_tsc
nonstop_tsc pni popcnt hypervisor cmp_legacy svm extapic cr8_legacy abm sse4a
misalignsse 3dnowprefetch nodeid_msr

        physical_features: 00802009-178bfbff-000837ff-efd3fbff
                 maskable: full

I would like to purchase some new servers and hopefully join them to the same
pool.
Perhaps not at first, but eventually after I've tested upgrading to XCP 1.6
that is.

My problem is the 4122 Opteron is not available (I can only get 4133, 4180 and
4200 series
and up it would seem). Am I likely going to be able to mask the newer cpu to
make it
work in my pool with the 4122s?

What does 'maskable: full' mean? Is there a certain feature to look for on cpu
that makes
it 'maskable?'

Thanks for any assistance.

Brett
