Hi,
I am trying to use xenoprof to monitor the performance of benchmarks running on a XCP based systems. I have installed the xenoprof tools on both XCP_Dom0 and a debian VM. But when I run the following command on debian VM,

   opcontrol --start-daemon --event=CPU_CLK_UNHALTED:1000000:1:1:1 --xen=/boot/xen-syms-3.4.2 --vmlinux=/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.32/vmlinux

   I get the error message:

You cannot specify any performance counter events
because OProfile is in timer mode.

I am not sure how to use event based profile on debian VM running on top of XCP. Does this message mean that the VCPU virtualized by XCP can't be recognized by xenoprof? Thank you!

xenoprof should be started on both dom0 (with the --active-domains=<pv-debian-vm-id>  param ) and the pv debian vm.
The following links have step-by-step instructions:

http://xenoprof.sourceforge.net/xenoprof_2.0.txt

cheers,
Marcus
