[Xen-API] difference between cloning of template (creating vm from template) and importing vms

Hi, 

What is the difference between cloning of template (creating vm from custom template) and  importing vms  ?

what are the limitations of creating vm from template ?
Does the custom template include virtual images ..?

Can we export and import custom template to a different xen server and create vms thereafter ..?
