  • Thread-topic: RHEL-6.0 VM cannot format xvda device

I am attempting to create a VM instance of RHEL-6.0 on an XCP-1.0 server from DVD install media.  When the install screen for the VM gets to the point where it tries to format the xvda device,  it goes through the process of creating the new partition and setting up the new file tables, but when it tries to read back what was written, the installer says that it can’t read the tables.   The dmesg output shows:

blkfront: xvda: barriers enabled

 xvda: unknown partition table

Has anyone else encountered this or have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Phil
